Succulents are sold as indestructible, then quietly killed by kindness. They are not difficult plants; they are simply badly matched to dark rooms and overenthusiastic watering.

Give them the brightest place

Most indoor succulents want hours of strong light. A decorative shelf far from a window is usually temporary staging, not a permanent home.

Water deeply, then stop

A small daily splash keeps the top of the soil wet while the roots stay weak. Soak the substrate, let excess water leave the pot, then wait until it is genuinely dry.

The pot matters

Drainage is not optional. A decorative cachepot is fine, but keep the plant in a nursery pot inside it so water can escape before you return it to display.
